Sacha Hales

I'm Sacha and I'm excited to be the Comedy & Drama Teacher at PQA Wirral West! Having recently graduated with a First-Class Honours Degree in Drama & Theatre Studies, I'm currently studying for a Masters in Contemporary Performance. I believe that drama isn't just 'jazz hands,' it is so much more! It's becoming someone or something you never knew you could. It's working as a team and building relationships on stage and with an audience. Alongside my studies, I also work as a Supporting Artist in Films which provides me with first-hand experience of what is required of an Actor in the industry. I also love to travel and explore different cultures, and have recently returned from Brazil, where I worked with children and young adults for 4 weeks over the Summer. Having attended PQA growing up, I know how much of a difference regular performing arts classes can make, and I am looking forward to working with everyone at the academy.

Hi, I’m Laura, and I am delighted to be supporting Rob in overseeing things at PQA Wirral as the Academy Manager. I have always loved the theatre, and have been a member of BOST Musicals for 22 years, performing in theatres across Merseyside, most recently in 'Shrek' and 'Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang' at the Liverpool Empire. I am also the lead female vocalist for the Northern Rhythm Big Band. Away from performing, I have an MSc in Mental Health Science and work as a Learning Mentor for a high school on the Wirral, offering support and guidance to students on their 6th Form course. I love supporting the students at PQA and helping them to achieve their full potential, both on and off the stage!

Simon Lovell

Hello, I'm Simon, and I am delighted to be back at PQA teaching the Film & TV module. Since completing a BA (Hons) in Moving Image in 2004, I have worked across multiple industries as a film maker, university lecturer, film director and video producer. My clients include the British Youth Film Academy, ADI TV, Everton FC, BBC, ITV, Sky Sports, Mercedes, Dunlop and Sykes Cottages, to name a few. As an IMDb-accredited film maker, I am passionate about the creative storytelling process. I previously ran the Continuing Drama Television Production department at the University of Central Lancashire, teaching students’ invaluable film and drama production skills, including how to create and prepare film for TV broadcast. I have been involved in numerous creative film and video projects within the TV and film industry, from producing over 1,000 promotional and commercial videos, broadcast documentaries and short films, to directing my debut feature film in 2015. Many of my videos have achieved millions of views through TV broadcast and online channels. I love working in education where I can make a real difference, by continuing to support and hopefully inspire the next generation of filmmakers through my love of film; enabling them to achieve their full potential.
