PQA Derby is a weekend performing arts school with classes for children and young adults aged six to eighteen. Our unique blend of performing arts tuition includes classes in Comedy & Drama (acting), Musical Theatre (singing and dancing) and Film & Television (filmmaking).


We run two busy and successful Saturday academies, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, operating from Derby Moor Academy.

Engaging Young People In The Arts.

There’s never been a better time to engage young people in the arts and the creativity of their minds and passions.

We have been operating in Derby since 2014. Over the years, we have won multiple awards for film-making, including awards at PQA’s own Northern Film Festival and the Birmingham Film Festival. Our students have enjoyed a variety of masterclasses as part of their student experience. These have included SFX make-up, stage combat, circus skills, children's TV presenting, 'Wicked', 'Sweeney Todd', 'Spamalot' and 'Mamma Mia' and acting for the camera, to name a few.

Our student experience doesn’t stop there. We also participate in PQA’s West End Show and perform in academy musical productions. Some of our students have also appeared on screen thanks to PQA’s very own agency, Quirky Kidz. 

Our team members are professionally trained, and between us, we have over 85 years of professional experience to share and mentor our students. So, singing, dancing, acting, film-making, and many more great opportunities make this an academy to be proud of! All the fun you can have simply by being yourself and being amazing!

free session:
We welcome children and teens to try our performing arts classes by attending a full session at no charge. Come along and discover what makes PQA so unique, meet the team and join in the fun!

Your academy Principal will let you know how to become a member after your free session. Your child’s place is held for a few days after your session, giving you time to decide if PQA is the right choice for your child.
