Shout out to Emilio from PQA Bromley.

He stars opposite Hollywood royalty in the shape of Brian Cox (Succession) as the despicable Fagin.

 The audiobook series also features the likes of Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Bridgerton), Julia Davis (Gavin & Stacy), Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso), Diane Morgan (Motherland) and Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Judas and the Black Messiah) in this retelling of the classic Charles Dickens tale.

Oliver Twist marks the first in a trilogy of Audible Original adaptations of Charles Dickens classics produced by Oscar winning director Sam Mendes. Parts of the audiobook were recorded at 48 Doughty Street, in the very room where Dickens wrote Oliver Twist ahead of it’s release in 1837.

Sam Mendes is best known for directing the Academy Award Winning American Beauty in 2000, but also for his Oscar nominated World War 1 epic, 1917, and for Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road and the 2012 James Bond thriller, Skyfall.

Emilio has been a part of the PQA Bromley Blue Group for a whopping 200 weeks!

This is the latest credit in the impressive young career of Emilio, who appeared in two episodes of the BBC One drama ‘Silent Witness’ as Tommy Shaw opposite Emilia Fox. He also played Faraday’s Son in ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth’ in 2022, a Showtime Original also starring Chiwetel Ejiofor (who Principal Rajere was at drama school with) , Naomie Harris and Annelle Olaleye. It was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Single Episode, eventually losing out to Squid Game.

PQA Bromley Principal, Rajere Williams, noted the hard work put in by Emilio; “We are so proud of Emilio, and any of our students who achieve success on their journey to becoming stars of the stage and screen! PQA is about so much more than the pathway to professional acting, but for those that want to go in that direction, it is really exciting to see what can be achieved.”

PQA Bromley are proud of all our students, and we are excited to see their hard work pay off. Emilio’s star turn as Oliver is the latest in a long line of success for our students. To name but a few, Armin from blue Group appeared in a nationally televised advert, and our red groupers, Dom and Leo, appeared in the West End production of Kinky boots written by Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein !

Armin, Dom, and Leo were offered their chances after attending casting days with Quirky Kidz, our young performers agency exclusively representing PQA students nationwide who wish to be considered for professional work in film, television, theatre, and commercials.

We created Quirky Kidz because many of our students were interested in having the opportunity to audition for professional work in the performing arts industry. We quickly realised that no-one would care more about the welfare of our students than us, so we decided to keep this process in-house where we could oversee everything and offer support to our parents and clients.

Our agency has gone from strength-to-strength sourcing exceptional, once in a lifetime professional opportunities for our PQA students nationwide. After celebrating their 10th Birthday in 2020, we are excited to see what the future will hold for our agency and the PQA students who engage with the pathway.

West End beckons….

And now the whole academy is super excited to be heading to the West end in February 2024 as we perform at His Majesty’s Theatre, in PQA’s latest musical production ‘Across the Line!’. Rehearsals are well underway and going well so far.
