On Sunday 24th November students from PQA Wolverhampton joined Principal Julian in the studios of Black Country Radio to talk about all things PQA.
Students Kelsey, Willow and Kieron spent an hour on air talking about their experiences, the West End, how PQA benefits them at school and in life and much more. Julian talked about the history of PQA and how he became involved as well as how the sessions work, how to join and how the skills learned at PQA cross over into all aspects of life.
The show had originally been intended to have lots of music with short breaks of chat between but the host was so pleased that he removed several songs to allow time for the students to keep speaking.
The show will be broadcast on Monday 25th at 1pm and repeated weekly at the same time for 4 weeks, it has also been programmed for the Primetime 6pm slot later in the month.
PQA Wolverhampton will be back in the studio just before Christmas to talk about Film & TV and our unique approach to that giving more students the opportunity to experience radio broadcasting. This was the first broadcast of what is hoped to become a regular program featuring our students offering a new aspect of performing that we have previously not covered.
Experiences such as this are fantastic for building a students confidence and awareness as well as critical thinking skills, nothing is rehearsed so they have to think on their feet and adapt to the hosts line of questioning, all valuable life skills.
