PQA are delighted to announce their nominated charity, MediCinema. At PQA, we’ve always known that every story has the power to change lives. That’s why we are partnering with MediCinema, who provides cinema experiences inside hospitals to support the mental, emotional and physical well-being of NHS patients and their loved ones.

What is a MediCinema?
MediCinema is a charity that strives to provide an escape for those who face challenging, frightening and often isolating times. They create and operate state-of-the-art cinemas – MediCinemas – inside hospitals.  These unique big-screen spaces are specially designed to accommodate beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment. Patients can enjoy the latest blockbusters completely free of charge.

Leaving the wards to experience a film screening in one of their safe and inclusive cinema spaces has a positive and lasting impact, giving patients and their families escapism from some of life’s biggest challenges, such as loneliness, stress and anxiety.

Through our partnership, we aim to create moments of joy and connection for those individuals facing difficult circumstances.

PQA HQ has supported MediCinema for several years, and as we expand our partnership, we aim to make a profound and long-lasting impact for this charity.

Become a PQA Hero and support MediCinema

We are inviting our PQA network of the HQ team, our Principals and their academy teams, and of course our students and their friends and families to join us in our support of MediCinema under the umbrella fundraising campaign, PQA Heroes.

Our fund raising activity kicked off fittingly with a filmmaking competition, The Hero’s Journey. PQA students were challenged to use their filmmaking skills to produce a ninety second short film, recognising that the hero in a film can make us believe that anything is possible and that we all have the power to overcome challenges.

We asked our students to create inspirational short films, depicting real or fantastical heroes and the journeys they take.

PQA HQ are joining in the fundraising action with a raffle in support of MediCinema at their summer party. We will also be collecting donations at our West End shows. If you are coming along to watch your children take to the West End stage please look out for the QR code in the programme and make a donation from the comfort of your theatre seat.
