Adam Johnson

Hi, I’m Adam, I have been involved with the arts for over 5 years now in and around Scarborough where I first fell in love with everything theatre. Since graduating from York St John University in 2023, I have taken on the role of Production Manager at Be Amazing Arts, where I have been involved in both musicals and promenade theatre throughout Yorkshire as their Production Manager. However, given the opportunity I still love to perform as much as possible!! My favourite style of acting is comedy and slapstick as I enjoy making people laugh and just being silly. I really enjoy working as a team to create amazing pieces of theatre and I can’t wait to continue my journey with you all at PQA, where I hope to pass on my knowledge and passion for the arts to the next generation of performers.

Charlotte Wood

Hi, I’m Charlotte, I have been teaching performing arts since 2020 and I’m so excited to be joining the PQA team. My love for performance started at a young age, I spent my childhood attending dance and drama classes in York, much like PQA. Having a safe and fun space to grow in skills and confidence as a young performer is the reason I was able to move forward with a career in the performing arts. It also gave me the passion to create the same space for our future performers and theatre makers, a passion I’m excited to bring into our Drama sessions together. I’ve spent the last three years teaching Drama, Dance and Singing as well as facilitating workshops in schools across North Yorkshire. In that time I’ve been able to discover my own teaching style that centres around fun, inclusivity and developing our new skills as a team! As well as teaching performing arts, I work as an Actor. Since the pandemic I’ve been lucky enough to be part of Pantomimes, Children’s Theatre, Local Entertainment Teams and even work on developing new shows. My journey in professional theatre began 17 years ago as a young performer. So as well as being able to provide first hand industry knowledge, I have relevant experience for this stage of the journey for our budding performers. I look forward bringing all of this and a dash of silliness to our sessions, and I can’t wait to meet you all soon!

Chris Curtis

I have lived in Scarborough for most of my life, studying at Filey School and Scarborough 6th Form College. A keen amateur video maker since the 1980s, I finally got to do it for a living in 2000 at The University of Hull Scarborough Campus, making all of their promotional, informational and dramatic videos. I am trained and experienced in camera operation, video editing and video graphics, as well as lighting and sound for TV. I was camera operator and vision mixer at Scarborough Open Air Theatre for 4 seasons. I have been a freelance video maker since 2015, using drones and underwater cameras as well as ordinary terrestrial cameras. I’m looking forward to helping a new generation of budding filmmakers on their way into a very creative and satisfying career!

Hi! I’m Danny, a Drama and English Graduate from the University of Lincoln. PQA has been a big part of my life since I was a kid, which is why I’m so excited to be an Academy Assistant at the place that taught me so much!

Fleur Robinson

Hello! My name is Fleur, and I am thrilled to be PQA Scarborough's teaching assistant. I attended PQA Scarborough as a student from the age of ten until sixteen. There I learned from the wonderful teachers and developed my skills in performance, acting and film. I grew in confidence from being very shy to now being an experienced performer. PQA uncovered many exciting opportunities for me, such as performing in musical theatre productions at established venues, entering Trinity exams, acting and working behind the scenes creating short films. I am very excited to be working as part of the team in this captivating atmosphere. I am currently studying Performing Arts at Leeds Beckett University. I achieved As and a B in my A levels (Drama, English language and sociology) as well as extra qualifications including EPQ, Arts Award and Grade 8 LAMDA in Musical Theatre singing, in which I received a distinction. I have also volunteered at a theatre group that specializes in acting for adults with a variety of disabilities. I enjoy helping the members to develop their communication skills and create devised theatre, as they explore the world of drama in an accessible and fun way. I can’t wait to work with the students each week to build on their skills and ensure that they have a fabulous time whilst learning to be enthusiastic performers!

Hi, I’m Nat and I am Vice Principal at PQA York. In PQA, I focus on promoting PQA locally and helping to find lots of fantastic performance opportunities for our students in the local area. I am also responsible for all of our fundraising efforts to go towards all of our fabulous costumes and productions and making sure that all of the sums add up to allow PQA to be the best it can be! I love being a part of PQA, from behind the scenes in the office to Front of House at the Academy at the weekend. You’ll see me at the Academies, and I’m always available to chat to at the beginning and end of every session with any questions that you may have, or if you need any further information on what we’re doing at PQA. What I love is seeing the children grow in confidence and when I get to see them perform - I'm blown away. Performing arts will help them in any walk of life from general socialising, job interviews to performing. I look forward to seeing you at PQA York very soon!
